TEST DRIVE

Want to test out the setting? Not sure if your character is a good fit? Need to start gathering some samples? You know how it goes:

→ Comment with the character's name and series in the subject.
→ Pick an option or make your own.
    → Tag around.
    → Enjoy yourself!!

The Test Drive will be open up until Vivarium opens on July 5th. Check out these helpful links to get a sense of the game:

G A M E  L I N K S

R E S O U R C E S
You're awake. You're lying on a cold floor, and your head is pounding. It feels like you've been hit with a sledgehammer. You can barely move, but you push yourself up anyway, and look around. You're in an unfamiliar warehouse, and on your left wrist is a bracelet. It feels heavy, and no matter how hard you tug at it, it refuses to come off. You can't remember how you arrived here, nor do you recognize anyone else. Try not to panic too much.

( For the purposes of the Test Drive, characters will be arriving in the warehouse instead of the Elevator/AB Room)

An Ambidex Game has just concluded. You have entered in your vote and there's no turning back. Did you trust your opponent and vote ally? Or did you double-cross them and vote betray? What did your opponent do? Did they vote betray while you voted ally, or did they vote ally while you voted betray? Why did you choose one or the other? Just what did you do?

Rules are meant to be broken. You've just reached a certain amount of BP, and you can finally have access to food (low or high quality) or to the dorms. It's great, things are getting a bit more bearable now, but seeing the others without the same "luxuries" as you, you feel like you should do something. It's against the rules to bring food or blankets out of their respective rooms, but Zero can't have eyes everywhere... can he?

Exploration and Escape. All the windows are bolted shut, and all the doors are locked. The exit is through the number 9 door, but no one can reach it until they have 63 BP. It'll take too long to wait for help to arrive, and to accumulate that many points. There must be some way out. Maybe if you search enough, you can find a tool to help you break down a door.

Wild Card. Want to try something else? Go for it! Have your own AB Game round, have characters argue against each other, try to keep the mood cheery, whatever! Make full use of the environment and mechanics, just remember to keep it within the game's structure.

[ The AB Game was easier than he thought, considering that there were only two choices to pick from and anyone with half a brain would know the "right" one to choose. It only took him a second to select betray and go out his merry way to check the score board. ]

Did anyone actually expect someone to choose ally?

[ Sorry to the poor sap who went up against him and choose ally... ]

[This girl picked ally!! But thankfully she's not the one who went against this guy; she went against someone else who also picked ally. Hooray for her!]

How cruel! Now I know what I'm picking if I ever go up against you!

[She'll be amazed if he gets anymore BP after pulling this in the very first round.]

[ Hey, maybe he'll get lucky, get off his back. ]

What, you expect me to suddenly trust someone else with my life? Sorry, pal, but I'm not going to pick ally unless I know for sure they're going to.
punintentional: (∫ sorry i'm not into old women...)

[personal profile] punintentional 2014-06-06 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
...Why wouldn't you choose ally? It doesn't make any sense to pick anything else.

[ UNLESS YOU LIKE KILLING PEOPLE... ]

[ HE DOES NOT, WHO DO YOU TAKE HIM FOR ]

Maybe if you trust your life with a stranger. How do you know that they're not going to pick betray on you after talking you up to pick ally?
punintentional: (∫ pretty sure 1+1 doesn't equal window..)

[personal profile] punintentional 2014-06-06 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Because that's just dumb? If we just all pick ally, we'll all gain points together and be able to escape.

It's only when people start betraying that people are going to get left behind or even killed.
fairsfair: ((゚`⌓´))

[personal profile] fairsfair 2014-06-06 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
You have to be pretty damn naive if you think everyone's going to keep voting ally for the entire game. What I just was the most rational choice here.
punintentional: (∫ so close to beating that high score...)

[personal profile] punintentional 2014-06-07 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
There's nothing rational about deciding to screw someone over for no reason.
fairsfair: ((`^´))

[personal profile] fairsfair 2014-06-07 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
It's rational to pick the choice that has the least chance of screwing me over. Not my problem if they actually thought choosing ally for the first round was a good idea.

[ Sorry, Jake is pretty cynical and selfish... He's been betrayed pretty badly in the past and while he can't remember it, it has left an impact on him and how he acts. ]
punintentional: (∫ did he fire six shots or only five)

[personal profile] punintentional 2014-06-09 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
No, it's not rational, it's just you being an asshole. At least be honest about it.

Good thing I went with my gut. [ Chris has some idea on the game, he figures picking the betray option in some instances would result in a stalemate where no one loses or gains. It was a good fail safe to fall back on when when his intuition wasn't telling him to choose one way or the other. So betray option it is! ] Figured sooner or later I'd end up going against you.

[ you know what jake he's not even gonna judge you for picking betray gosh. give it up to chris for laming it out and expecting jake would make that choice. he thought sherry fixed you!! ]
fairsfair: (( •̀∀•́ ))

[personal profile] fairsfair 2014-06-06 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Hey, back off, man, Sherry totally fixed things!! He just lost all that development when he arrived here with memory loss, okay, so not his problem... ]

Looks like someone here at least has half a brain to pick betray. I guess even a meathead like you can think rationally now and then.

[ meet the poor sap who chose ally. see, natalia has a sense of honor and nobility, memories or not. who could choose betray when someone's life was on the line? certainly not her.

but certainly jake, apparently, judging from the board, which she's watching with the most betrayed expression. prepare for a very confrontational princess, jake, hands on her hips once the shock settles in. ]

I expected you to, which I see now was a poor choice. [ .... ] How could you?

[ BITCH PLEASE. ]
fairsfair: (( ´︿`))

[personal profile] fairsfair 2014-06-06 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Hey, he's totally good with confrontations. He might not remember it, but he was a mercenary, so being yelled at is nothing. Piece of cake. ]

Hey, not my fault that you actually trusted a complete stranger. How did I know that you wouldn't have picked betray as well?
lanvaldearest: (pic#6573961)

[personal profile] lanvaldearest 2014-06-06 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Do I look like someone who would gamble with someone's life, stranger or not?

[ don't answer that. actually, jake kind of looks like the kind of person who would do that, but she wasn't one to pick "betray" over appearances.

so jake should totally pick "ally" for that same reason. ]

We're all experiencing the same circumstances. That is reason enough to trust and cooperate with each other.
fairsfair: (Default)

[personal profile] fairsfair 2014-06-06 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Wow, are you saying that he looks like a complete dick? Excuse you, in canon, he totally helped in saving the world (by first asking for money, but let's ignore that). ]

Yeah, let's just do that for who-knows-how-long until we all reach 63 points. You honestly don't think someone's going to eventually pick betray down the road?
lanvaldearest: (pic#6573960)

[personal profile] lanvaldearest 2014-06-06 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[ uh, well, complete dicks can still save the world by accident. sit down and pick ally, jake, before she makes you.

his response does give her a moment of hesitation, though. as noble as she is, she can't call herself stupidly naive. it helps to think. ]

Well... of course, at some point that might be true... [ an exhale, as she steadies herself. ] But that in no way means we should betray each other simply for fear of being betrayed. When we do that, we're simply creating the situation we want to avoid.

[ crossing her arms. ]

Does that not bother you?
fairsfair: ((-`д´- 。))

[personal profile] fairsfair 2014-06-07 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
[ Rude, he did not save the world by accident. He generously gave up blood to save the world. He's the hero of Red Cross. ]

Not really, because that's life, lady, whether you like it or not. People are going to say one thing, but do the other. Better start liking it.

[Wow what an opportunistic asshole.]

[Thankfully, for Zelos' life, he had been nothing if not surrounded by opportunistic assholes; he knew how to pick them out of the crowd. Betray really was the better choice, in this instance.]

Y'know, I'm almost hurt that you didn't.

[This is why he didn't deal with guys.]

[ Jake is just a selfish person without canon development, sad to say. Terribly sorry to say (but not really), so hope you've chosen betrayal. ]

What can I say? None of you have rubbed off on me yet.
cursedchosen: (Default)

indeed they are

[personal profile] cursedchosen 2014-06-21 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
[It's a good thing without development betrayal is Zelos' middle name!]

Now now, with that attitude, you're really gonna have a hard time rubbing off on everyone else too.

[Zelos is the suave master, and has no such problems.]
fairsfair: ((✧`︶´)人(`︶´✧))

[personal profile] fairsfair 2014-06-21 02:26 am (UTC)(link)

cursedchosen: (We ain't got nothing to lose...)

[personal profile] cursedchosen 2014-06-21 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
[The same middle name and the same father issues!]

Trust me, talking to un-cute guys like you is the last thing on my priority list. But, it looks like we're gonna need to stick together if we want out.

[Better than anyone, Zelos knew the value of social combat and social mobility. Even in a shitty situation like this, getting people to dislike you served no purpose, and ultimately hurt your chances of survival.]

[ Wow, are they just the same person or something? It's like looking into a mirror! ]

Yeah yeah, but it's pretty damn stupid to trust someone with your life in the very first round or foolish trust someone. Dying for no reason, because someone decided to pick betray? Doesn't sit well with me.

[Clive had originally intended on choosing ally for his first round, but after spending time with this guy in the puzzle room, it was extremely obvious that he had no intention of playing nice. So naturally, Clive has also chosen betray.]

Well, I certainly wasn't expecting you to. Seems I was right on the money.

[He's not even mad. He's quite amused, in fact.]
