it's been a long time I apologize.Anyway, it's super nice to remeet you, too! I'm kind of canon-blind on Layton at the moment, but I really enjoy the premise and I'm excited to see expert puzzle-solvers here!
Also, I think the 3ds game is Tales of the Abyss. But you should still pick it up anyway, because Abyss is absolutely fantastic.
